About

CURRENT INFO (February 2012):

Being Human: Call of the Wild has been published. See BOOKS tab here. Fifteen stories on the nature of the human character. Edited by yours truly.

Scholarly project: have been reading in biology, current psychology, and neuroscience in terms of brain structures and functions. Am interested in moral decision making, consciousness, and individuality. Am also reading in conjunction with the science British moralists of the eighteenth century and English eighteenth-century novels. Curious how the eighteenth-century thinkers devised the notion of moral sense which has ultimately grabbed the attention of brain scientists. All of this draws from my basic interest in the notion of character: intelligible and empirical (represented in work by English novelists who seem hypersensitive to notions of goodness). Not sure where all of this is leading, but it is the logical culmination of work I did in CHARACTER AND CONSCIOUSNESS and ETHOS AND BEHAVIOR.

BATTLE RUNES: WRITINGS ON WAR - Published. A collection of mostly fiction, some poetry (edited by yours truly).  See link in BOOKS.
